Double Jaw effects on ramus

I plan to get bimax for a plethora of issues with my face, one of them being my short ramus. FaceGPT told me that it would make ramus appear longer but I'm curious on how it would do that. Does anyone know?
Because BSSO cuts your bone somewhere down the middle of the ramus. And then it can be moved up or down. Such as in the image.
I thought the BSSO cut was on the mandible portion?
It's both technically. The ramus is part of the mandible.
