I wanted to get some perspectives on something I experienced recently.
As someone from a minority background, I’ve been thinking about how much race or background might influence dating preferences.
I went to a university party with a mix of people. There was one guy who stood out a lot — very tall and clearly very attractive. There were other good-looking guys there too, but he seemed noticeably above average.
What surprised me was that he didn’t seem to get much attention. When I spoke to him, he said that although some people find him attractive, they don’t pursue him because of certain assumptions or stereotypes related to his background. I wasn’t sure what to make of that, especially since I didn’t notice anything myself.
It made me wonder how much factors like race, social environment, and perception influence attraction in real-life situations, even when someone is clearly good-looking. I’ve also had a few experiences that made me question this.
Do you think these kinds of patterns are common, or are they more situational? And how much do things like confidence, social circles, or approach matter compared to appearance alone?
yes before you flame me i had to change my story with chat gpt, i gave up as it got flagged multiple times.
But my overall question is that for the majority of women when given the choice between 2 slayers, one being of colour and the other being caucasian i don’t it hard to believe they wouldn’t pick the caucasian. I want to know what your guys think.
completely location dependent, it's very obvious that in societies where the average is a certain skin tone or ethnicity that skin tone or ethnicity would be preferred.
pretty uncommon here in the uk tbf, if you're good looking, you're good looking (mainly because the uk is pretty diverse, so there's not a fixed preference that'll satisfy all) - probably location wise just like how @skypsl said
