# Brow Thickness

Harmony · Front view · Eyes · https://www.faceiqlabs.com/support/harmony/brow-thickness

Vertical brow thickness compared with a horizontal brow-to-outer-hood span.

> Supporting measurement: it currently has no weight in the Harmony score and is hidden in standard results.

## What is measured

Calculation: Mean of brow peak-to-arch thickness ÷ inner-brow-to-outer-hood width × 100

## Why it matters

It describes the visible weight of the brow above the eye. The width reference keeps the measurement relative to the local eye area rather than raw photo size.

- Lower: a thinner vertical brow relative to the reference span.
- Higher: a thicker vertical brow relative to the reference span.

## Where the idea comes from

Evidence: FaceIQ adaptation. This is a FaceIQ landmark-based description of facial shape. The linked research provides background on facial measurement or perception; it has not directly validated this exact formula or its score.

## A worked example

A 6-unit thickness over a 30-unit reference width gives 20%. The app averages the left and right percentages.

Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range.

## How to read your result

This supporting measurement has no Harmony score weight and is hidden in standard results. It does not measure hair density or eyebrow health.

## Research & further reading

These sources explain the history or related evidence. FaceIQ’s score weights and reference ranges are model settings; the papers do not collectively validate the scoring system.

- Biller & Kim (2009). [A contemporary assessment of facial aesthetic preferences](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19289680/). Compared ratings of edited brow and nose features on four female models. The authors emphasized individual facial harmony; this is context for feature relationships, not a test of every brow metric.
