How rights holders ask for a photo to be removed, and what a notice must include.

Last Updated: October 19, 2026

1. Photos on FaceIQ Labs

Celebrity photos on the Celebs Wiki are submitted by FaceIQ Labs members. Each member confirms they own the photos they submit or have permission to share them. FaceIQ Labs, Inc. hosts these photos and responds to notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

2. What a notice must include

A notice must be in writing and include every item below. If you act for an agency, a label or a management company, also give the company's name and your authority to act for the owner.

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
  3. The exact page address (URL) on FaceIQ Labs of each photo you want removed.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.

We can act only on a notice that includes all six. If one is missing, we reply with what is needed.

3. False notices

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Notices are reviewed against the owner's authority before anything is removed.

4. What happens after a valid notice

We remove the photo or disable access to it promptly, and tell the member who submitted it. A member who repeatedly submits infringing photos loses the ability to submit, and their account may be closed.

5. Counter-notices

A member who believes a photo was removed by mistake may send a counter-notice to the address below. It must include their signature, the photo removed and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that they believe it was removed by mistake, their name, address and telephone number, and their consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for their address (or, outside the United States, any district where FaceIQ Labs may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice. We forward it to that person and may restore the photo 10 to 14 business days later unless they tell us they have filed a court action.
