Eyebrow Low-Setness

The gap from pupil level to the inner-brow level, scaled by eye-opening height.

What is measured

The calculation

Absolute pupil-to-inner-brow height ÷ average eye-opening height

Schematic illustration, not to scale. Lines show the measurement construction; this is not an ideal face or a scored result.

Why it matters

The brow-to-eye gap changes the amount of visible space above the eyes. Scaling it by eye height makes the result sensitive to both brow placement and eyelid opening.

  • Lower: brows sit closer to the pupils relative to eye height.
  • Higher: a larger relative brow-to-pupil gap.

Where the idea comes from

FaceIQ adaptation

This is a FaceIQ landmark-based description of facial shape. The linked research provides background on facial measurement or perception; it has not directly validated this exact formula or its score. [1]

A worked example

A 12-unit brow-to-pupil gap over a 10-unit eye height gives 1.2. If the eye squints to 8 units, it becomes 1.5 without moving the brow.

Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.

A contemporary assessment of facial aesthetic preferences

Compared ratings of edited brow and nose features on four female models. The authors emphasized individual facial harmony; this is context for feature relationships, not a test of every brow metric.
