Why it matters
The neck forms the base of the facial silhouette. The comparison describes the transition from jaw to neck and distinguishes neck width from the sharpness of the under-chin contour.
- Lower: a narrower neck relative to the jaw.
- Higher: a wider neck relative to the jaw.
Where the idea comes from
FaceIQ adaptation
This is a FaceIQ landmark-based description of facial shape. The linked research provides background on facial measurement or perception; it has not directly validated this exact formula or its score. [1]
A worked example
A 105-unit neck under a 125-unit jaw gives 84%. A 115-unit neck under the same jaw gives 92%.
Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.
