Nasal Tip Angle

The angle at the nose tip between the points just above and below it.

In these guides, nasion means the nasal root, subnasale the nose base, and pogonion the most forward chin point. Frankfort refers to the direction from the ear-opening landmark to the lower orbital landmark.

Why it matters

This describes the local turn around the tip. It distinguishes tip contour from how far the entire nose projects or how much the underside rotates upward.

  • Lower: a more acute turn at the tip.
  • Higher: a more open angle at the tip.

Where the idea comes from

Clinical reference

Nasal angles and projection are used to describe profile shape. Preference studies have tested edited noses; FaceIQ’s particular landmarks and score ranges should not be treated as universal conclusions from those studies. [1]

A worked example

A tip angle of 95° is more acute than one of 115°; the nose may have the same overall projection in either case.

Example values explain the calculation. They are not a target range and are not measurements of the schematic above.

Research & further reading

The sources below explain the history or related evidence. FaceIQ’s score weights and reference ranges are model settings; these papers do not collectively validate the scoring system.
